Hi there! I'm Kaelyn, a 25-year old adventurous traveler, writer, and photographer keen to learn as much as I can about sailing. I'm a Divemaster with plenty of experience on boats, and also have some sailing experience: 2 months in New Zealand, and 2 months crossing the Pacific from Tahiti to Fiji. Now, I'm looking for a boat in Fiji starting mid-late July at the earliest, either going on to Australia/New Zealand (via Vanuatu and/or New Caledonia is fine!) or just exploring around Fiji.
Personally, I'm hard working and highly motivated, and am used to "roughing" it. I don't shy away from challenges and am a quick learner who can take instruction. Finally, I'm easy-going, flexible and can get along with just about anyone-skills honed over the past few years spent living, working, and traveling abroad.
I'm happy to have a chat about my experience and have references available. Thanks!

I would like to leave from Fiji and ideally go onward to Australia/New Zealand, though am open to Vanuatu or sailing around Fiji as well. I am available from mid-late July onward (depending on the winds!)

Hi Kaelyn, our ages and sailing experience are at different ends of the spectrum.
Build you miles up, as this is the best way to really understand what sailing is all about. Offshore and passage making is the way to go for honing the skills you require. It also enables you to start thinking out of the box, when you find yourself having to think very fast to get out of a potential awkward situation. Read around the subject and be choosy as to where you want to take any theory/practical courses for qualifications.
Most of my contracts are with owners wanting to be tutored on their own boats. Some are new to sailing, some want the assurance of having someone there when sailing offshore or passage making.
In all probability our paths will never cross, but I do wish you well in your endeavours.
Thank you all for using the Float Plan Website. I am excited to announce that the new website is ready! There are many great features help you find a safe boat to sail on. I hope you join us again. I will be sending out an email on the 7th with a link to the new website.
